Issue
We were brought in by a new client who had just started up a new business and wanted to
make sure that they got their IT correct from the beginning.
The client wanted to make sure that they had the correct IT in place to automate and
protect their business and were keen to experience the savings in both cost and time
that effective and integrated systems would give them.
One of our main briefs was to develop a database application that they could use
to manage their business. The following lists some of their main requirements:
The system must mirror their processes
It was important that the application we developed fit the way they wanted to work
and not the other way round.
The system must be flexible
Like any small business this client knew there would be a lot of change in the way
their business operated. The software supplied had to be flexible and adapt to changes.
Any application that couldn't meet this requirement would soon become useless.
Must be able to track the sales process from initial query through to final sign-off
Solution
We spent time with the client to fully understand their business. Only then did we design the
application they wanted. The design process involved the client at every step.
In order to provide the required flexibility we designed the system in such a way that processes
and their associated actions could be defined within the application by the client - this fulfilled
both the requirement of fitting how the client works as well as providing the required flexibility.
The application was developed and installed and is now an integral part of this client's business.
Benefits
The software developed has saved the client from having to employ anybody to do much of the day to
day administration.
They estimate that this saves approx. 3 hours per day with a potential annual saving in the region
of £7,000-£15,000 per year.
